Chiefs Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Against Receiver Laci Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs have acknowledged the “allegations on social media” following a post from Laci Rice’s ex-girlfriend that claimed domestic violence. The team stated, “The club is aware of the allegations on social media and has been in contact with the National Football League,” according to reports.
While the Chiefs did not name any individuals, Dacoda Nicole Jones, who shares two children with Rice, addressed the alleged abuse in her post. She described enduring years of mistreatment and asserted that life has been “nothing but hell” since their breakup a few months ago.
As of Thursday morning, Rice had not publicly responded to the accusations.
Jones referenced multiple images of bruises and scratches on her body, although she did not specify who the alleged abuser was. She expressed frustration with protecting his image, asserting it was time to “protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself.”
In her account, she mentioned incidents of property damage, being locked outside during pregnancy, and being left in Kansas with her children. Jones also lamented her sons’ lack of communication with Rice and criticized his priorities, saying, “It’s not fair that he doesn’t call them.”
On a related note, a source indicated to WFAA that Jones was upset about Rice moving on and dating someone new, labeling her as a disgruntled ex-girlfriend.
Additionally, Rice has faced legal troubles in the past. He previously pleaded guilty to involvement in a high-speed crash in Dallas that resulted in injuries to several individuals during the 2024 season. He received five years of probation and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, which must be served during his probation. The incident led to a six-game suspension and over $1 million in settlements for the victims.
The newspaper has reached out to the NFL, as well as attorneys for Jones and Rice, for comments on the ongoing situation.
