Chilean Authorities Recover Stolen Watch from Keanu Reeves
A valuable watch, reportedly worth $125,000, stolen from Keanu Reeves during a home invasion in December 2023, has been returned by Chilean authorities.
On Tuesday, officials announced that they had recovered a total of six watches, including a carved Rolex valued at approximately $9,500, which were handed back to the FBI. The watch was found several months ago during a police operation and has now been returned to the actor.
The operation took place in Santiago, Chile, where law enforcement executed multiple raids, recovering not only luxury watches but also wallets, stolen cars, and iPhones.
This investigation is part of a larger collaborative effort with the FBI, focusing on a criminal organization based in South America that has targeted high-profile properties in the United States, allegedly racking up millions in thefts.
Among those affected by similar robberies are some celebrities and professional athletes; for instance, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce has also been a victim.
Back in April, police reported the arrest of 23 individuals believed to be involved in those robberies. Prosecutors indicated that Reeves had recognized the watch they recovered as one stolen from his home in Los Angeles during this series of high-profile thefts.
Marcelo Baras, from the Chilean Robbery Investigation Squad, mentioned that investigations are ongoing to determine if there’s a connection between the theft of Reeves’s watch and other luxury robberies in the area, which is a compelling but also a bit ambiguous situation.
Interestingly, Reeves’s stolen items were recovered around the same time that Christy Noem, the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, was visiting Chile to discuss issues of cross-border crime. Noem herself was reportedly a robbery victim back in April when someone took her wallet while she was dining at a restaurant in Washington, D.C.
