Shame, NBA. Shame.
Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards has been on a roll this season when it comes to collecting fines, to the point where my man is just handing out money to the NBA.
Well, you can go ahead and add another one to the list, as Sunday saw Edwards give the middle finger to a referee during a defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies. The league made the announcement Monday that Edwards has been issued a $50,000 fine over what they label as an “obscene gesture.”
“Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 for making obscene gestures toward a game official,” said the NBA in an official statement released Monday. (RELATED: Fans Throw Punches Just Minutes Into China-Enabling NBA Game, And Of Course It Happens In A Left-Wing Rathole)
This is Edwards’ fifth fine in the 2024-25 campaign, and with that being the case, there’s been some chatter regarding whether or not the NBA could potentially discipline Edwards even further for being a repeated violator.
Edwards was fined $175,000 alone in December for two separate incidents by the NBA. His first offense, which stemmed from criticizing referees while being interviewed, was $75,000. Just a week later, he was given a $100,000 fine, being forced to pay out after he gave an interview that was riddled with profanity.
And then we have the $40,000 fine that he was slapped with for laying down criticism on officials after his T-Wolves landed a win against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
