Whether we like it or not, our world will soon be filled with robots walking among us with human-like grace and agility, rather than clunky machines straight out of sci-fi movies. You will be fulfilled.
For example, take Tiangong, a life-sized humanoid robot that can run on electricity, recently unveiled by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.
As tall as an average human and powered by a concerted effort of sensors and processors, Tiangong has the ability to jog at a steady pace, navigate complex terrain and perform tasks precisely. Tiangong represents a future where robots can become our companions, assistants and perhaps even friends.

Tenmyou in numbers
This full-sized humanoid robot stands 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 95 pounds, and can run at a constant electric speed of approximately 3.7 mph. Tiangong is equipped with cutting-edge sensors, including visual recognition sensors and a high-precision inertial measurement unit that performs 550 trillion operations per second. These capabilities, along with 3D vision and six-axis force sensors, allow Tiangong to move with a fluidity that rivals that of a human.
