China’s TikTok has launched a new promotional tool to boost Hollywood engagement: “Studios will never again miss an opportunity to meaningfully interact with their fanbase,” the mind-control app announced.
“Until now, there has been no reliable way for marketers to leverage this unique ecosystem,” TikTok said. said Before announcing Spotlight on Thursday, the company said the tool would “make it easy for studios to leverage the power of TikTok for upcoming releases and library content.”
“TikTok Spotlight works with studios to identify the right creators and corresponding incentives to encourage authentic creativity around the movies and shows you love,” TikTok explained, adding that the app’s most influential influencers will be promoted across the platform.
The Spotlight tool also assigns an anchor link to that video, directing users to a dedicated landing page where they can find out more information, such as a synopsis, cast, official accounts, and a collection of content from other creators linked to the same title.
This will allow “fans to explore the fandom and conversations around the titles and fully immerse themselves in the community,” TikTok said.
Users can also watch content on streaming platforms and purchase movie tickets directly from the landing page.
TikTok also touts Spotlight as a “comprehensive analytics dashboard” where studios can get insight into their fanbase and how they’re engaging with specific projects. Studios can look across the platform to identify content for their titles and track how they’re performing and who’s engaging with them, the app says.
Spotlight will also spot developing trends and conversations in real time, “ensuring studios never miss an opportunity to meaningfully engage with their fans,” TikTok added.
Additionally, studios can see how their IP is being used, allowing them to decide which content to protect and which to offer copyright collaborations on.

While TikTok is focused on connecting studios with fans, the Chinese app has faced multiple lawsuits filed by families who claim the social media platform is directly responsible for the deaths of their children.
TikTok, owned by the Chinese Communist Party-controlled ByteDance, is widely viewed as a national security threat by lawmakers from both ruling and opposition parties as well as dangerous for children and young people, and has been banned from US government devices.
