Chinese official inquiring about Trump’s plans regarding fentanyl components: report

A high-ranking official from China is inquiring about what the Trump administration plans to do regarding the chemicals used to produce fentanyl in Beijing.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, China’s Minister of Public Security, Wang Xiaohong, has been looking into this matter over the past few days. Additionally, it was noted that Wang is prepared to meet with U.S. officials or representatives from a third country shortly.

This development follows a recent announcement from China’s Commerce Department, which stated it is currently assessing President Trump’s invitation for discussions about tariffs, which have been raised to 145% on certain goods.

The statement highlighted that the U.S. has recently expressed a desire to engage with China on various issues, noting that Beijing is taking this into consideration.

Back in February, President Trump, now 78, implemented the first 10% tariff on Chinese goods, citing a “national emergency” related to China’s situation.
