Backlash Over New Show Featuring Chip and Joanna Gaines

Chip and Joanna Gaines’ latest series, titled “Back to the Frontier,” has generated some discontent among their Christian supporters.

Gaines didn’t seem to handle this backlash very well. In a post on social media, he stated, “Talking, asking the questions, listening… perhaps even learning. There’s a lot one could question about modern American Christian culture.”

He also remarked, “It’s a sad Sunday when ‘non-believers’ have never encountered hatred or malice until they meet modern American Christians.”

Steve Deace, who hosts a show on BlazeTV, expressed disappointment concerning the Gaines couple. He remarked, “You’re only seeing the surface, and Joanna is now diving deep.” He added, “What appeals to me about them is their choices. Chip seems especially eager to adopt a more aggressive online persona, all while trying to navigate faith and reconstruction.”

Deace pointed out that this has created an even stronger backlash than others who have taken similar paths: “This pattern is familiar among Christian TV figures like Chip and Joanna.”

He elaborated: “They use us to build an audience, but once they achieve a certain level of mainstream success, they often shift away from their original base.”

Deace continued, “When this crossover happens, many feel as if they must cater to current trends. It’s like bowing to pressures that come from a specific cultural moment.”

Furthermore, Chip’s recent outreach to his audience could have lasting repercussions. “Instead of disregarding their base or assuming that they lack awareness, they chose to remain connected. This was a significant decision,” Deace noted. “That’s a bold choice.”
