Chipotle CEO Scott Boatwright said the company will absorb planned tariffs on President Donald Trump's tariffs in its neighbours until they pose a major challenge.
“It's our intention to sit here today to absorb these costs,” Boatlight said in an interview with “NBC Nightly News.” But when costs become “significant headwinds,” Boatlight said, that could change.
In a revenue call earlier this month, the CEO said the company raised 2% of Mexican ingredients, including avocados, tomatoes, limes and peppers, less than 0.5% of Canadian and Chinese ingredients.

If tariffs are in effect, “there will be a continuing impact of approximately 60 basis points on our sales costs,” Boatwright told analysts during the call.
Trump shows the US is moving forward with plans to collect another 10% on Chinese imports on Tuesday and impose a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada. The US already implemented 10% tariffs on Chinese imports earlier this year.
