Chris Jones Deactivates Social Media Following Criticism

Chris Jones, the All-Pro defensive tackle for the Chiefs, has shut down his social media accounts after facing backlash for his performance in the critical moments of Kansas City’s 31-28 defeat to the Jaguars on “Monday Night Football.”

The Jaguars clinched the game in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter with a run by quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who remarkably got back on his feet after being stepped on during the snap and dashed into the end zone.

In a moment of confusion, Jones moved along the line, mistakenly thinking the play had ended and that Lawrence had been tackled.

The criticism he faced post-game seemed to weigh heavily on the six-time Pro Bowler, prompting him to deactivate his accounts.

When asked about Jones’ decision to step away, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suggested that distancing himself from social media could be beneficial.

Head coach Andy Reid didn’t delve into the social media topic directly but acknowledged Jones’ effort during the game.

“Rest [social media] and keep doing it as much as you can, but if you choose to stay active, use that as motivation,” Mahomes advised reporters.

Reid remarked, “I can’t imagine him feeling down. That just can’t be the case. He knows the game well enough. It came down to finishing the play.”

After the game, Jones reflected on the missed opportunities, arguing that they had stopped Lawrence “multiple times” but couldn’t seal the deal.

“We’ve got to finish these plays,” he stressed. “It was a bizarre moment for him to slip through so many tackles. I take responsibility for that; as a defense, we need to finish.”
