Chris Pratt Discusses Audience Demand for Authentic Stories
Chris Pratt recently expressed his thoughts on what audiences are seeking from Hollywood during a chat with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.” He highlighted that viewers are craving a variety of stories—especially those that connect with a sense of patriotism.
Reflecting on the success of the first season of “The Terminal List,” he noted, “It connected with an audience that… we consider a bit underserved. We aimed to create an unapologetically patriotic action series, and clearly, the audience responded positively.” It seems there’s a hunger for such narratives.
Pratt went on to share his perspective about learning combat skills through cinema, admitting that his understanding of warfare comes primarily from films rather than personal experience. “I’ve never been to Fallujah or anything like that,” he said, but emphasized that collaborating with veterans on set lends a genuine feel to the production. It’s, you know, a fascinating blend of fiction and reality.
“These guys bring a real eye for combat based on their experiences,” he explained. “Veterans often approach us, saying things like, ‘I served, I did a couple deployments, and the tactics, the decorum—it’s all so authentic.’ That validation is, I think, part of the show’s appeal,” Pratt conveyed.
He elaborated on the show’s roots, mentioning that it is adapted from a book series centered on a Navy SEAL, with actual members involved in the production for added realism. “We have 17 veterans in our crew… it’s like a mini-Navy SEAL reunion here,” he remarked, his excitement about this aspect clear.
When discussing the upcoming season, Pratt revealed that the narrative is set to shift in a thrilling direction. “The first season was this dark psychological thriller involving a SEAL seeking revenge for a conspiracy that devastated his unit and family. The second season, however, delves into more of a globe-trotting espionage saga.” It’s interesting how stories can evolve, isn’t it?
Overall, the anticipation for the next installment is palpable. Season 2 of “The Terminal List” is set to premiere on Prime, and it seems that with its mix of authenticity and action, it’s bound to resonate with viewers again.
