New Legal Issues for Patriots Player Christian Barmore
Another player from the New England Patriots is facing legal challenges. Christian Barmore has been charged with assault, just a day after Stefon Diggs encountered his own legal troubles concerning what some are calling a nuisance charge.
According to court documents acquired by sources, Barmore is accused of assaulting a woman he was dating in Mansfield, Massachusetts, last August.
The alleged incident unfolded when the couple argued over the room temperature and food. Barmore reportedly took her phone as she attempted to leave. Allegations state that when she tried to call for help, he grabbed her and forcefully threw her to the ground. Witness accounts suggest that Barmore also threatened her, claiming he could “hire someone” to cause her harm—this has raised serious concerns for her safety.
Barmore has been charged with assault and battery against a family or household member. The woman involved has since expressed that she does not wish to maintain any ties with Barmore.
Court proceedings are set for February 3, which is just days before the Super Bowl. The Patriots, meanwhile, are on the verge of securing the top seed in the AFC.
In a statement, the New England Patriots acknowledged awareness of the situation, noting that they had informed the NFL promptly following the incident. They also indicated that this matter remains part of an ongoing legal process, which they are closely monitoring and cooperating with.
This news about Barmore coincides with reports that a player from Diggs’ team was involved in a serious incident where he allegedly choked a woman over financial disagreements, leading to additional scrutiny of player behaviors off the field.
