Christian McCaffrey defended his wife, Olivia Culpo, on Tuesday after the fashion influencer posted a lengthy critique on social media of the newlywed’s Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress.
On Monday, stylist Kennedy Bingham discussed the long-sleeved ball gown Culpo, 32, wore to her June 29 wedding to the 49ers running back in Rhode Island, saying, “The dress has no personality.”
“Usually a wedding dress has a little bit of bridal flair in it – beading, jewelry, little details – but this has absolutely nothing, it’s devoid of personality,” Bingham said in the nearly six-minute TikTok video, which had more than 2 million views as of Thursday.
McCaffrey, 28, fired back at Bingham. Her Instagram pageA video was also shared, with the caption: “How wicked to post this online. I hope you find joy and peace in this world like my beautiful wife.”
Culpo also responded to the criticism, As shown in the screenshot When captured by Bingham, she said: “Wow, you are such an evil person. I hope no one ever hurts you like this because it would be so hurtful. I love this dress. It is everything I hoped for and more.”
In Bingham’s video, the stylist also analyzed Culpo’s comments. In a recent interview with Vogue magazineShe explained that she didn’t want the dress to “exude sex in any way,” and that she wanted the look to be “as serious as a marriage commitment.”
“If you just look at the dress, you see a beautiful bride in a beautiful, simple, elegant dress. If you just look at the dress, there’s really nothing to say, but everything surrounding the dress leaves you with a kind of bitter aftertaste,” Bingham said.
“… Listen, there’s nothing wrong with wanting a modest wedding dress, or modest clothing in general, but the way she spoke about it went beyond simply wanting something modest for herself and pushing her idea of what every bride should be like.”
Bingham also found it “weird” that Culpo talked so much about “covers.” The former Miss Universe winner told Vogue, “When I think about Christian and what he loves and the moments he thinks are most beautiful for me, it’s really in things like this: timeless, covered, elegant.”
“I also think it’s really weird that he talks so much about her covering up, especially since she doesn’t dress modestly in her everyday life…I think it’s weird that he uses the word ‘covered’ because she doesn’t in her everyday life. And why does he think that covering up is the most beautiful thing? It’s really weird,” Bingham said.
“This was not a wedding, it was a Conservative campaign rally, and it was clearly not well run,” Bingham said at the end of the video.
“…You took this disingenuous pick me route that honestly felt more like you were thinking about your story than your actual marriage,” Bingham continued, captioning the video, “From Miss Universe to Miss Pick Me.”
In addition to the ball gown, Culpo also showed off two other outfits for the reception and after-party.
She and McCaffrey have been dating since 2019.
