Forrest Frank Clarifies His Stance on Christian Music Awards
Forrest Frank is attempting to clear the air. He recently took to Instagram to explain his viewpoint after country music sensation Jelly Roll publicly questioned his decision to shun Christian music awards while still reaping profits from his worship songs.
In a video posted on Tuesday, Frank expressed that he was initially reluctant to address the issue, wanting to avoid unnecessary conflict. However, he eventually decided to speak up, particularly after attracting media attention.
“Jelly, I truly appreciate your question,” he said. “This topic actually held me back from producing Christian music for years because I was hesitant to commercialize worship music. I wanted to keep my relationship with Jesus genuine.”
Jelly Roll had commented on Frank’s choice, noting, “I won’t accept trophies that are meant for Jesus, but I do accept benefits that come from Him. Maybe I’m missing something here.”
Frank acknowledged that this uncertainty had kept him in the background for years. Ultimately, he felt compelled by a higher calling to share his music, especially a song entitled “Quiet Time,” which he had written and produced himself.
“Legally, that income is mine. But once it reaches me, I won’t disclose how I plan to use it. There’s a principle about giving that I believe in,” he said.
Continuing his thoughts, Frank elaborated, “I may donate 90% of my earnings or perhaps only 10%, and it could be somewhere in between. But that’s a personal matter between me and Jesus. Yet, I really want to engage in this dialogue.”
In his closing remarks, he extended an olive branch to Jelly Roll, expressing his desire to be a supportive presence. “This comment excites me. I’d love to dig deeper into this issue. Until then, I’m here for you, whether via phone or social media. I support you, brother. God is with you and has a plan for your life.”
Frank reiterated his thoughts in his post’s caption, stating, “We serve a God of unity and forgiveness. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Jelly Roll, and we’re on good terms. I embrace these questions as a believer; they shouldn’t be avoided.”
The controversy sprouted from Frank’s announcement that he would no longer accept awards in the Christian music sphere, attributing it to his personal beliefs. Last week, he shared a video explaining his reasons for refusing to attend or accept accolades for music “from Jesus and for Jesus.” Jelly Roll’s comments sparked a discussion regarding perceived contradictions in Frank’s stance.
Responses to Jelly Roll’s comments were mixed, with some criticisms directed at him. Others defended both artists, highlighting the complexities of individual beliefs and the importance of respectful discourse within the faith community.
One user remarked about Frank, questioning how much he charges for merchandise, suggesting that there may be hypocrisy in his actions. Meanwhile, FOX News Digital has reached out for comments from both artists’ representatives.
