Chubb’s Response to the Palisades Fire
After the Palisades Fire swept through a Los Angeles neighborhood earlier this year, Chubb quickly mobilized to help those affected.
We established a command center right outside the evacuation zone. Our coordinators arrived within days to secure accommodations for clients in need, with some families relocated within just 48 hours.
As authorities were focused on extinguishing the flames and searching for missing individuals, we made it a point to visit clients at their temporary locations, whether it was hotels, offices, or even friends’ homes. We brought coffee, explained their insurance policies, and worked on their claims, which included tasks like researching property titles and gathering mortgage repayment information. We aimed to process claims promptly.
This situation was distinct due to the initial inaccessibility of the area. We became resourceful, utilizing aerial imagery and geocoding from Wildfire Defense Services to monitor our clients’ properties. In many instances, we provided the first updates on whether their homes had survived.
Our primary concern was our clients, not immediate access to properties. While the fire was ongoing, we prioritized connecting with those who had evacuated and required support. A lot of the claims work was done before we reached the affected sites, significantly aiding the response.
If anyone had to leave their vehicle behind during the evacuation, we ensured that it would be recovered safely, with the help of chapel truckers and verification from the California Highway Patrol.
Once we accessed the area, some clients faced delays due to National Guard roadblocks. One client, who had evacuated her home, was anxious about leaving her valuable jewelry unprotected. We arranged for a vehicle to pick up the jewelry and transport it to a secure location, providing some comfort that her possessions were safe until she could recover them.
Thanks to these efforts, we recorded a 98% customer satisfaction rating for both personal and commercial claims in response to the Los Angeles wildfire.
From Hurricane Helen to the severe winter freeze in Texas, our approach remains consistent during any disaster. Regardless of the situation’s magnitude, we prepare throughout the year to respond swiftly when it matters most.
The response to this devastating fire highlights Chubb’s commitment to safeguarding American businesses and the community. Since our beginnings at Independence Hall in 1792, we have been dedicated to this mission. Reliable insurance providers like Chubb are essential for American companies to embrace the risks necessary for growth.
Chubb also actively contributes to energy security. With increasing energy demands, we acknowledge the expanding opportunities within the nuclear and gas sectors. While we continue to support oil and gas businesses, we’ve faced scrutiny from climate activists targeting our CEO and attempting to pressure our operations. We remain steadfast against such pressures.
Our history speaks volumes. When bonds were needed by President Trump, we stood alongside energy producers, manufacturers, contractors, farmers, and small businesses nationwide. Our dedication to protecting Americans and their assets is unwavering.
