Chuck Schumer seems to release a loud fart on the Senate floor

There’s little doubt that senators will respond without much fuss.

This week, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer seemed to inject some energy into the room, even managing to elicit a chuckle or two after his now-famous speech.

While he was criticizing President Trump and discussing the war in Iran, he experienced an unexpected moment when he let out an audible fart, which was caught live on C-SPAN.

“Now it’s about Iran and the NDAA,” he remarked just as the awkward moment began, a clip that quickly went viral thanks to The Blaze.

“All the Trump administration can say about the disastrous war with Iran is that Vietnam was worse. What Trump said yesterday highlights his failure. These are Donald Trump’s words. The only thing he can argue is that Vietnam was worse. Oh, come on! A war that cost nearly 50,000 American lives, went on for almost a decade, and divided the nation.”

It certainly was a heated moment.

The incident spread rapidly online, including mentions by the RNC Research, the Republican National Committee’s X account, along with conservative commentator Mark Kaye, who commented that this situation supports the idea of term limits for lawmakers.

Schumer’s blunder reminded many of a similar incident from 2019 involving Eric Swalwell, a former congressman who infamously passed gas live on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews.”

“Chris, the evidence so far suggests the president misused taxpayer dollars—” Swalwell began before being interrupted by a notable sound. Some listeners might have chuckled, “It’s an election.”

When asked later about the noise, Swalwell quickly denied involvement, sending a text to a BuzzFeed News reporter affirming, “That’s not me!!!!!”

The show later claimed the noise was just a mug scraping against the desk in the studio.

Schumer did not specifically address his comments on the Senate floor.
