Chuck Todd Discusses Trump’s Health Amid Claims of Bias

Chuck Todd, the former moderator of “Meet the Press,” made headlines on Monday when he suggested that President Donald Trump appears to have health issues. This came after he previously defended journalists for not making similar assertions about former President Joe Biden.

Todd pointed out in a previous episode of his podcast that discussing a politician’s health is incredibly challenging. “It’s frankly easy to shy away from it,” he mentioned. However, during his latest episode, he had no hesitation in stating that Trump “evidently has some health issues.” He criticized Trump and his supporters for questioning the health of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Biden.

Todd remarked, “He is solely responsible for these health rumors. The entire Trump universe is mired in this web of intrigue and misinformation.” He reflected on the rampant speculation around Biden’s health during the past elections, emphasizing that unverified rumors had even led to congressional hearings.

“So, what’s the deal? If it’s suitable for the geese, it should also be suitable for the gander,” Todd stated, questioning why Trump has been less visible recently. He pointed out the gradual lack of transparency regarding Trump’s health and wondered about the cause of the visible issues, such as bruising or swelling.

Recently, online images showing Trump’s swollen feet and injured hands circulated. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt reassured reporters in July that Trump had passed physical exams but suffers from chronic venous insufficiency.

“Why the secrecy? What’s really happening? Why are his hands injured?” Todd challenged. He speculated that Trump might be on medications leading to visible side effects. Despite the reassurances, he believes there are clear health concerns, highlighting physical symptoms he’s observed.

Earlier in April, Todd spoke about the “soft coverage” from legacy media concerning Biden’s age-related issues, defending the right for people to draw their own conclusions based on Biden’s public appearances. He noted some seemed subtle yet telling, raising questions about the media’s portrayal of Biden’s fitness.

For years, concerns have lingered about Biden’s mental acuity, particularly ahead of the anticipated debate with Trump in June 2024, although legacy media has often dismissed these worries.
