The series, which is based on the classic horror film series, is not expected to return for a fourth season. Part 2 of Season 3 of the series aired its final episode on both NBCUniversal cable networks just four months ago.
This news came despite series creator and executive producer Don Mancini's best efforts to keep the show running. He revealed in April that he was pitching for a fourth season, saying at the time, “That's what I really want to do.”
Fans have shared his enthusiasm and started the #RenewChucky campaign on social media to rally support for season four.
Mancini, who also produced and wrote the film series, was disappointed in the decision to cancel the series, but vowed it would not be the last time he saw Chucky.
“While I am heartbroken to hear the news that Chucky will not be returning for Season 4, I am so grateful for the three wonderful years we have had,” he said. “Thank you UCP/Syfy/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our amazing cast and Toronto-based crew who are the best in the industry, and lastly, our amazing fans, for the bloody hugs. Your amazing #RenewChucky campaign. It really warmed Chucky's cold heart. Chucky is coming back! He always comes back.”
