CIA Officials Tried to Stop the Release of Russia Documents

Intelligence Director Releases Controversial Reports on Trump-Russia Claims

National Intelligence director Tulsi Gabbard has made a significant move by overriding CIA and other intelligence officials to publish “minimally edited” documents. These reports bring to light the questionable sources behind the Obama administration’s narrative regarding the supposed Trump-Russia conspiracy, as noted by the Washington Post.

Reportedly, Gabbard received President Donald Trump’s approval for this release. The classified House Intelligence Committee report was backed by CIA Director John Ratcliffe and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

In a statement, Gabbard emphasized that these 46 pages reveal details of what she described as “the most awful weaponization and politicization of intelligence in American history.” The documents reportedly trace the roots of the investigation into Trump-Russia back to the Obama administration.

Gabbard discussed the contents of the report, claiming it shows how the Obama administration crafted intelligence assessments in January 2017. This declassification purportedly unveils how certain higher-ups promoted the false narrative that President Vladimir Putin had assisted Trump in winning the 2016 election. She argues this undermined American public trust and sought to delegitimize Trump’s presidency.

Highlighting key findings, Gabbard mentioned that figures like former CIA director John Brennan engaged in producing unfounded claims, while allegedly ignoring evidence that suggested a different outcome in the 2016 election.

A source familiar with the situation told the Washington Post that while the CIA had recommended edits to the document, Gabbard maintained that certain sensitive elements didn’t require prior approval for release. It’s worth noting that Trump approved the document as is.

A CIA spokesperson acknowledged that Ratcliffe supported the release, expressing some awareness of internal opposition to the publication of such materials. However, the degree to which some want to maintain secrecy around this issue remains unclear.

In response to the release of these documents, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) labeled it “hopeless and irresponsible,” suggesting it could jeopardize sensitive intelligence methods and damage trust with allies.

Gabbard substantiated claims that former President Obama orchestrated what she described as a “rebellious conspiracy” against Trump in her remarks about the declassification.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) indicated that the findings point to a coordinated effort by the Obama administration to connect Trump to Russia during the election, stating a duty to uncover the truth.

Trump himself has made strong assertions about Obama’s involvement, declaring, “He’s guilty,” without hesitation. The gravity of these accusations is undeniable, and he seems inclined to move forward without delay.

After Bondi briefed the Department of Justice on the findings, she announced the formation of a Strike Force dedicated to investigating what they perceive as a hoax surrounding these claims.

The Obama office has dismissed the report as “outrageous” and maintained that it is a misrepresentation of events.
