Cincinnati Councillor’s Controversial Comments on Assault
In a recent incident in Cincinnati, councillors seemed to be reacting with celebration towards a violent attack that was captured on video, with comments claiming that the white victim “begged for the assault.”
The late-night brawl has quickly gone viral, showing a group (mostly black) attacking white men and women outside a downtown bar. The man involved can be seen bleeding on the pavement, while a woman who tried to intervene was knocked unconscious. Some of the attackers reportedly shouted racial slurs during the incident.
Cincinnati Councillor Victoria Parks made a provocative comment on Facebook, stating, “They begged for that assault! I’m grateful for the whole story,” in response to the footage of the attack.
This week, calls for her resignation have surfaced, with figures such as President Ken Cober, head of the Cincinnati Brothers Order Police, and Republican Ohio Rep. Phil Plummer also demanding her departure.
Cincinnati Councillor Victoria Park must resign soon! I hate defending violent criminals who violate innocent people.
Her words were outrageous, “They begged that they beat them!”
Prosecutors must label the attackers’ actions as hate crimes. We need to… pic.twitter.com/snv8ecpyng

So far, five individuals have been charged, with more arrests anticipated, according to Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Tegge.
“Let me be clear,” Tegge stated at a press conference. “Anyone who puts their hands on someone else in this incident with the intention to cause harm will face consequences—regardless of which side they are on.”
Republican Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno criticized the city’s response to the attack and shared a graphic image of the female victim who was hospitalized.
Cincinnati is an incredibly spectacular city. They deserve political leadership that matches the greatness of their citizens.@aftabpureval Later/issuing weak statements, police chief denounces social media (without 200 police officers), prosecutor @conniepillich I’m going to rest… pic.twitter.com/6bzfo48m4g

Moreno remarked, “She just wanted a nice evening with her friends; instead, this happened.” He emphasized, “We need and deserve change.”
