Bel Ribeiro-Addy, Labor MP for Streatham, told BBC Radio 4’s Today program that she was concerned about the direction of the inquiry into Mr Ezzedi’s background. She said: “It’s clear that there are problems with our criminal justice system. And, you know, there needs to be some overhaul there.”
“An average of two women a week in this country are killed by a partner or ex-partner. That’s why we live in a society where violence against women and girls is normalized.”
Asked if she said Ezzedi’s asylum status was not a factor, she replied: “They say the most important factor is violence against women and girls. We don’t know why he was given asylum.
“There may have been some serious problems with how the criminal justice system handled the particular issue of his particular sexual offense. That may have been the issue. .
“What I am saying is that violence against women and girls is a primary issue, whether they are of a certain faith, whether they are of a certain ethnicity, whether they were born in this country or not. Because it’s something that people have, no matter what.
“We need to look to prevention because this is something that is pervasive throughout our society and ultimately it is better than killing. And we need to look at prevention after these horrific incidents of violence against women. , and we keep getting to this place where we talk about it.”

Former Metropolitan Police Superintendent Dar Babu told BBC Radio 4’s Today program that forces from the Metropolitan Police, Northumbria and British Transport Police would work together to form an intelligence cell to assist in the search for Ezzedi.
Mr Babu said Mr Ezzedi would be “questioned” about the nature of his previous convictions.
“We understand it was an exposure,” he said. “These are often gateway violations.”
“So there would be questions about what probation was doing, how they were monitoring him, and maybe probation was doing everything. There are certainly questions. Dew.
“I think there are broader questions about asylum, although it’s probably outside of my expertise. He claimed to have converted to Christianity. And I don’t think this will come up in any review of this case. I know that, and it will inevitably happen.”

Clapham was left in shock after yesterday’s attack. Witnesses said they heard screaming outside, saw a child banging on a car window, and then saw a man throw drugs at a woman.
They told the Guardian:
I started hearing screams. I looked out the window and saw a woman being hit by a car.
Her daughter banged on the car window and told the man behind the wheel to get out.
At that point, he poured acid on her. He then took the girl, who was probably about 3 years old, out of the back seat, picked her up and slammed her onto the floor twice.
He then ran away as people started chasing him.Then I heard a woman scream“My eyes, my eyes, where are my children?” She was running around with her eyes covered.
Neighbors came out and started pouring water in her eyes. The little child asked, “Where’s mommy? ” I kept shouting. ”
Another resident called the suspect “crazy and evil” and said that although violence was not common in the area, “nowhere in London is safe”.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has so far released two images of Abdul Ezzedi.
Children’s Minister David Johnston was pressed on Sky News this morning about his decision to grant asylum to the suspect, who was convicted of sex offenses in 2018.
He said:
I don’t have his case file, so I can’t say anything here that might affect the police investigation.
Given that he is still at large and he is a prime suspect for police, what we really need is for anyone with information to come forward to help us arrest him.

The Metropolitan Police has alerted other forces in case the 35-year-old man attempts to flee London, and Superintendent Gabriel Cameron said he was last seen on Caledonian Road, north London. The suspect appeared to have come from the north, the district said. – Carrying out attacks in the east of England.
