Claudia Sheinbaum elected as Mexico’s first female president

Claudia Scheinbaum has won Mexico’s presidential election and is expected to become the country’s first female president.

“I will be Mexico’s first woman president,” Scheinbaum said at a hotel in downtown Mexico City, shortly after election officials announced that a sample of votes gave her an irreversible lead, according to the Associated Press.
