Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has graduated from college.

A look back at Shedeur Sanders' extraordinary 2025

Graduation Season and Shedule Sanders’ Journey

It’s May, and graduation season is in full swing. For many students, the relief of finishing college is soon overshadowed by the pressures of finding a job.

But at least Shedule Sanders can breathe a little easier, knowing he has a job lined up—with the Cleveland Browns, no less. He was all smiles as he celebrated his graduation from the University of Colorado.

First off, congrats to Shedule and all the other graduates from Colorado! Now, this raises a question: is a college degree really essential today? Well, that depends on your career goals.

For some, it remains a necessity, but others might argue that the increasing focus on less traditional fields—like feminist poetry or non-binary physics—diminishes its overall value.

I can’t deny that it’s frustrating when we see these trends, as they give the media a peculiar reputation.

While it’s true that the practical utility of a degree might be debated, there’s no denying the achievement it represents. Completing a program requires dedication. It’s something to be proud of.

For Shedule, sticking with it was a wise choice; he wasn’t obligated to complete his degree, so he clearly saw its value.

But then I wonder: has he perhaps become the first player ever to have his number retired just after graduation? It’s possible.

In today’s world, schools might seek to honor distinguished alumni before hanging their jerseys up, but times are ever-changing.

And here’s a thought: let’s not forget about NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals that add yet another layer to this conversation.

As Shedule gears up for his career, he’s likely aware of the competition—especially with Deshaun Watson rumored to be the frontrunner for the starting quarterback position (I can just imagine Browns fans groaning about that).

And as he prepares for the upcoming season, he might also want to brace himself for the obligatory calls from his university asking for donations. It’s all part of the process, isn’t it?
