Terrorism Charges Filed Against Eight Individuals in Threat to Government Officials
Eight individuals are now facing terrorism charges over an alleged plot to assassinate various government officials and celebrities, including President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Elon Musk, during the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House last month.
These individuals were indicted collectively on Thursday in Ohio, facing serious accusations related to conspiracy to support terrorism, commit murder on federal grounds, and kill federal employees, as stated by the Justice Department.
Law enforcement became aware of a potential threat to the UFC event just days before it occurred, on June 10. Following this, seven suspects were arrested in different locations across the country shortly afterward.
An eighth suspect, reportedly acting as a sniper during the attack, was apprehended by the FBI this week in West Virginia.
The charges originated from an investigation and criminal complaint against 19-year-old Tysen C. Proper from Danville, Ohio. Other defendants include Michael Alan Thomas, 32; Daniel K. Eskridge, also 32; Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, 31; Jordan W. Rinker, 28; Brian Omar Roa, 25; William Lee Spartacus Faulkner, 21; and 21-year-old Chandler D. Skaggs.
The conspiracy allegedly took shape in May when the defendants began gathering funds, firearms, ammunition, body armor, explosives, drones, medical supplies, and communication devices.
Interestingly, federal prosecutors noted that even after Proper’s arrest, Skaggs expressed a willingness to proceed with the plan, signaling his intent to continue working with the group to organize further actions.
Authorities reported that the suspects communicated through encrypted chats on Signal, Discord, and a TikTok group named “Vanguard of the Old,” which promoted extremist anti-government theories and sought to “destroy” the United States with the aim of rebuilding it. This situation raises concerns about the lengths to which individuals might go when influenced by such radical ideologies.
