CNN betrayed in one of the fact-checks of President Donald Trump's speeches to a joint session of Congress after claiming that federal money was “mistakefully” spent in a transgender experiment with mice.
CNN journalist Deirde McPhillips allegedly “misconfirmed” on Tuesday night that Trump had identified $8 million spent on “mouse transgender” Tuesday night.
Instead, she argued that a grant was given to a project that applied hormone therapy to monkeys to understand its impact on HIV treatment.

“In the 2021-2022 fiscal year, the National Institutes of Health will award a total of $477,121 to three projects that involve administering feminization hormone therapy to monkeys, understanding that it can affect the immune system and affect HIV. Transgender women,” McPhillips wrote in the draft. Obtained by a wayback machine.
The fact-check states, “Transgender women are almost 50 times more likely to contract HIV than other adults, according to one 2013 study in 15 countries, including the United States. It's not clear where the $8 million figure came from.”
but, Edited version Fact Check changed its assertion on Wednesday from “falsely asserted” to “context of needs” and published a list of federal grants that include mice receiving gender trade treatment since adding the White House.

The fact check also includes a correctional read that “previous versions of this item are mischaracterized as false Trump claims about federal funds used to “make mice transgender.” This article has been updated in the context of spending. This was for research studies on the potential human health effects of gender-maintaining treatments. ”
Fox News Digital reached out to CNN for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Doge announced Wednesday that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) had cancelled seven grants. Some of them included $532,000, which tested “exploring the effectiveness of cross-sex testosterone therapy using a mouse model” and “feminization hormone therapy in male rats.”
