CNN host dares to challenge the narrative about the fairness of Trump’s hush money trial: ‘This happens to be true’

CNN host Fareed Zakaria has publicly challenged the legitimacy of the criminal case being tried against Donald Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).

Mr. Trump now spends much of his work week sitting in a Manhattan courtroom as his trial on charges of tampering with business records, a case Mr. Bragg is trying to frame as an example of election interference, drags on.

“I don’t believe the charges in New York were brought against a defendant whose name is not Donald Trump.”

But Zakaria doubts anyone other than Trump will face the same situation.

Zakaria acknowledged this on Sunday, claiming that the Republican Party is “united behind Trump,” while the Democratic Party is divided over support for President Joe Biden.

“No matter what opposition [Trump] Most of the problems faced in the primaries have been resolved. And the trial against him continues to draw attention to him, infuriating his base of supporters who see him as a martyr, and even among the public who believe his prosecutors are politically motivated. It may help bring some sympathy to the public,” Zakaria said.

“In my opinion, this happens to be true. I don’t believe there was an indictment in New York against a defendant whose name was not Donald Trump,” he acknowledged.

Legal experts have made similar arguments about Bragg’s case.

Jed Handelsman Sugarman, a law professor at Boston University, called the incident a “historical error.”Former federal prosecutor Elie Honig I believe there will be If the trial had been held in a 50-50 split between Trump and Biden, there was “no chance of a conviction.” And law professor Jonathan Turley has regularly criticized Bragg’s case, not only for its legal ambiguities, but also for Trump’s perceived illegitimacy. not receiving equal justice.

CNN’s own poll also shows that Americans are skeptical that President Trump received a fair trial.

Only 13% of Americans believe President Trump is being treated the same as other defendants. Opinion poll foundMeanwhile, a majority of respondents (56%) told CNN they don’t believe Trump received a fair trial.
