CNN's top political anchors slammed Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz's debate performance, but disagreed on what exactly went wrong.
“There was a clear lack of preparation and execution here,” broadcaster Abby Phillip said during a panel discussion, explaining how Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance landed a “punch.” pointed out.
Host Dana Bash claimed that Waltz had the opposite problem.
“I think he overprepared. He obviously had a lot of lines he was going to say,” Bash said. “I think the lack of interviews he did with national and local media shows that he needed more.”
While Jake Tapper acknowledged that “J.D. Vance has much more experience in public speaking, defending himself, and changing direction,” Anderson Cooper noted that Waltz was much more experienced on stage. I concluded that he looked nervous.
