CNN reporter asks Biden insidious question targeting House Republicans — but even Biden rejects it

A CNN reporter on Monday tried to force President Joe Biden to hold House Republicans accountable for the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Navalny died last week while incarcerated in Russia’s notorious “polar wolf” prison in the Arctic Circle. Although Russian authorities maintain that Mr. Navalny died suddenly after taking a walk, many Western officials blame the Russian government and Russian President Vladimir Putin for Mr. Navalny’s untimely death.

But on Monday, CNN’s senior White House correspondent MJ Lee asked Biden whether House Republicans, rather than Putin, the Siberian cold or the disease, were to blame for Nalvany’s death.

“Mr. President, would you go so far as to say that Alexei Navalny’s blood is now on the hands of House Republicans?” Lee asked Biden as he returned to the White House.

Suggestions implicit in the question – Lee himself later admitted It eliminates one of Putin’s biggest political threats because House Republicans, who do not support giving tens of billions of taxpayer dollars or more to Ukraine without first addressing domestic issues like the border crisis, This means that there is some responsibility for giving them the courage to do so.

But even Biden rejected that premise.

“I wouldn’t use that word,” he replied, before attacking Republicans over Ukraine funding.

“They’re making a big mistake not responding,” he said. “Look, the way they’re moving away from the Russian threat, the way they’re moving away from NATO, the way they’re walking away from fulfilling our obligations, it’s just shocking. I mean, they’re wild. Things like this. I have never seen one.”

The way Biden characterized the House Republican position is uncharitable at best and flat-out false at worst.

House Republicans do not want to shirk their foreign policy obligations or ignore the threat posed by Russia. After all, it was Barack Obama. Mitt Romney famously rebuked him by saying, Russia is the greatest geopolitical threat to the United States.

Rather, House Republicans want to prioritize domestic issues, such as the border crisis and the national security threat it poses, over funding proxy wars. Additionally, Biden has refused to give Americans a clear strategic plan outlining how taxes will help Ukraine defeat Russia. He also fails to explain why taxes should fund wars in the first place.

These facts aside, Lee’s question is, why do Americans Don’t trust legacy media.
