CNN’s Debate Co-Hosts Tapper, Bash Showed Open Bias Against Trump in Past Remarks

Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, co-hosts of CNN’s Thursday night presidential debate, have repeatedly demonstrated their virulent bias against former President Donald Trump in previous comments to the network.

Tapper and Bash’s bias is significant because they could use their positions to set up an unfair debate in which Trump would have to face them while also debating President Joe Biden.

Bash has moderated debates in the past. In 2019, he moderated the Democratic presidential primary debate, in which Vice President Kamala Harris harshly criticized Biden on civil rights issues. He also moderated the Republican primary debate with Tapper in 2023, including the debate between unsuccessful presidential candidate Nikki Haley and Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. Trump was conspicuously absent from the debates.

“Jake Tapper and Dana Bash are respected, veteran journalists with more than 50 years of combined experience covering politics,” CNN said in a statement.

“They have extensive experience hosting major political debates, including this season’s CNN Republican presidential primary debates,” the network said. “There are no better people than these two to co-host a substantive, fact-based debate, and we look forward to the debate in Atlanta on June 27.”
