CO Democrat Gov. Polis Tells Citizens to Ignore Video of Migrant Gang Takeovers

Colorado's Democratic governor, Jared Polis, is scoffing at claims that violent immigrant gangs with guns are taking over apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado, despite clear video evidence and confirmation from the town's mayor.

Footage of migrants carrying pistols and rifles walking down an apartment hallway in the Denver suburb of Aurora has gone viral this week. The migrants are reportedly members of the dangerous Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua, which has seen a surge in membership in the U.S. as a result of the Biden-Harris border crisis.

Gang members have reportedly taken over several apartment blocks and are going from room to room telling residents to give their rent money to them instead of sending it to the building owners.

But despite clear video evidence, the state's Democratic governor, Jared Polis, has mocked those who claim the apartment complexes are being taken over by immigrant gangs.

Police spokeswoman Shelby Wieman say The state said it stands ready to “assist local law enforcement, with assistance from State Police and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, if necessary.” New York Post Reported.

But Wieman argued the warnings about immigrant gangs were merely the imagination of Aurora City Councilman Daniel Jurinski.

“Police information indicates that this break-in was largely the product of Daniel Jurinski's imagination,” Wieman said, adding that crime in Aurora had decreased from 2022 to 2023.

The spokesperson also criticized local officials in Aurora, adding that Governor Polis “sincerely hopes that City Council members who are supposed to keep our city safe will stop undermining their own city.”

But this attack on Councilman Jurinski's integrity is at odds with the video, which in fact seems to be at odds with comments made by Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, who acknowledged that some apartment complexes have recently become hotbeds of gang activity.

“There are several buildings in the city that have fallen into the hands of Venezuelan gangsters,” Coffman told Fox News.

The mayor added that the buildings in question were being used as state-funded migrant housing, making it easy and quick for gangs to take over.

Meanwhile, Jurinski argued that the blame lies entirely with the failed Biden-Harris immigration crisis and the neighboring city of Denver, whose generous sanctuary policies created Aurora's problems.

“This isn't just a Denver metropolitan issue… [it] “This is a failure at the southern border,” Jurinski told Breitbart News exclusively on Thursday.

“This is not something that is unique to Aurora, Colorado. I can't stress this enough. But you need to have other municipalities and other agencies talking about this because this could be a stain on your organization, on your city or on the community that you represent,” she added.

John Fabbricatore, a former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field chief and Republican congressional candidate in Colorado, blasted Governor Polis' claim that the gang problem is imaginary.

“So now Jared Polis believes this was all a fake play. Yes, Governor, we hired a Hollywood director to film this to make you look bad. No, the Biden/Harris Administration created this problem and you pushed it,” Fabricatore wrote to X on Thursday.

Fabricatore also took action earlier this week, helping an elderly woman move out of one of the apartment buildings targeted by Venezuela's violent gangs.

The candidate, a former immigration official, also noted that Jurinski watched as Fabricatore and a team of volunteers helped elderly residents escape unsafe apartments.

Some people have begun moving out of gang-plagued buildings.

“It's been a nightmare. We just want to get out of here,” resident Cindy Romero said as she and her husband moved out.
