Colorado Senate Democrats passed a bill Wednesday that would ban concealed carry permit holders from being armed for self-defense in five new places.
The bill, SB 24-131, uses the nickname “dangerous areas” to describe new areas where licensed concealed transport vessels would not be allowed to carry firearms to protect life.

Giffords’ associate Jesse Ojeda said, “One of the reasons we decided to narrow this bill in this way is because the Supreme Court has decided that the places written in this bill in this way are presumptively It clearly states that it is legal, and to date, the laws relating to these specific locations have not been successfully challenged.”

KDVR pointed Gun control advocates have already said they expect the bill, if passed by the Colorado House and signed into law, to expand the number of “sensitive locations.”
Ironically, the two largest mass shootings in Colorado in the past 30 years occurred in areas where concealed carry for self-defense is prohibited. On April 20, 1999, two assailants killed 13 innocent people at Columbine High School, which had gun restrictions, and on July 12, 2012, two attackers killed 12 innocent people at a movie theater where guns were restricted. was shot dead.
