A year after his company’s submersible imploded en route to the Titanic, killing five people, the co-founder of OceanGate is preparing to go where no man has gone before.

Blue Marble Exploration co-founder Guillermo Zoneline plans to send a submarine into a 663-foot underwater sinkhole that completely surrounds the Bahamas archipelago.

This fall is a scientific estimate, and humans have never reached the bottom. Popular Mechanics magazine reported:.

Officially called Dean’s Blue Hole after a Bahamian fisherman, the cavernous crater has long been a magnet for divers who venture to reach its bottom.

But everyone has died during the attempt, including an American in 2013, according to Popular Mechanics magazine.

Due to its size, unknown and unforgiving nature, this geographical phenomenon has morphed into legendary lore, with people saying that a demon resides at the bottom of the hole.

Others believe it leads directly to hell, hence the nickname “Gateway to Hell.”

“In the region’s first comprehensive scientific survey, our scientists will utilize cutting-edge underwater ROV technology to remotely dive into some of the most inhospitable environments on Earth, searching for unprecedented discoveries,” the website reads.

Sonnlein said that unlike the fatal disaster mission to the Titanic, which is 12,500 feet below sea level, this mission will be carried out by experts only and will not include tourists. Independent.

According to the Blue Marble Exploration website, the mission’s goal down Hell’s Gate is to “reveal new knowledge about marine ecosystems and Earth’s ancient climates, and uncover previously undiscovered species.”
