“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin made an appearance on CNN recently, where she offered some pointed comments about former President Joe Biden before his upcoming interview on the show. She expressed concern that he might not be the ideal messenger for Democrats at this time, despite acknowledging his role in maintaining the NATO alliance. Griffin also highlighted the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan during his presidency.
It was revealed last week that Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, would be co-hosting a live segment on “The View,” scheduled for Thursday. Additionally, he participated in a BBC interview that was released the same day.
“People are ready to move on,” Griffin remarked, suggesting that it’s a time for reflection on legacies, perhaps reminiscent of the way Jimmy Carter distanced himself from the spotlight after his presidency.
Biden has been quoted as denying any plans to withdraw from the 2024 race to prevent Trump from gaining an advantage, emphasizing his ongoing commitment to his candidacy.
During the CNN segment, host John Berman made light of Griffin’s feelings about Biden’s return to public view. He also referenced Biden’s focus on foreign policy and noted that Trump had criticized him for his actions in that arena. CNN political commentator S.E. Cupp weighed in, stating that while the message Biden conveys may be good, the messenger is not resonating with voters, adding that many Democrats seem to have moved past him.
Berman also touched on Biden’s response to questions about any potential consideration of dropping out of the race. Biden stated he didn’t see it as significant, as he had left the race when viable candidates were present. Berman suggested that Biden’s reaction to the inquiry might have been telling.
Griffin echoed Berman’s sentiment, pointing out that former Vice President Kamala Harris had limited time to campaign as many Americans felt the country was on the wrong track. She noted that it’s challenging to gain political traction under such circumstances, indicating that Harris has been significantly influenced by the Biden administration’s legacy.
