Behar on Her Legacy and Trump
Joy Behar, co-host of “The View,” expressed on Tuesday her desire to be remembered for her role in getting Donald Trump out of office. She stated, “I want my legacy to be that I helped get Trump out of office. That’s what I really value.”
During a discussion with Brian Teta, the show’s executive producer, she reflected on Trump’s return to the political arena, suggesting he now poses a greater threat than before: “He did it. He wants to do it a second time. This time he is much more dangerous than before.”
Behar urged Americans to call on Congress to invoke the 25th Amendment, asserting that Trump is “destroying the United States of America.” However, Teta seemed skeptical about that route, suggesting impeachment might be more feasible.
In reaction to Behar’s comments, White House Press Secretary Taylor Rogers dismissed her remarks, labeling her as “an irrelevant loser” with “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Rogers added that Trump’s accomplishments would be remembered globally, unlike Behar’s television career.
Behar, in a prior episode of “The View,” had also called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked over a controversy regarding a plaque Trump allegedly placed in the White House. She questioned, “When is the 25th Amendment going to be invoked? Does he have to run into the White House naked or what?”
The 25th Amendment outlines the presidential succession process and can be enacted if the president is unable to fulfill their duties due to incapacity. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg has shared similar concerns, critiquing Trump’s behavior during public appearances and echoing the sentiments about Biden’s competency.
