Senate Bill 3, explained By Denver Post It will come before a House committee this Tuesday as the “most drastic gun control law” in Colorado history.
The SB 3 is a semi-automatic firearm ban targeting numerous gas-operated semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.
The bill says:
The bill defines “identified semi-automatic firearms” as semi-automatic rifles with removable magazines or gas-operated semi-automatic handguns with removable magazines or removable magazines. The bill knowingly prohibits the manufacture, distribution, transfer, sale or purchase of certain semi-automatic firearms. Except that other people will transfer certain semi-automatic firearms to heirs, individuals living in another state, or to a federally licensed firearm dealer.
On February 20, 2025, Breitbart News said SB 3 had cleared the Colorado Senate. It was passed after contracts were signed to allow a ban on gun buyers to cooperate with special prior stage conditions and requirements, including training and review processes similar to those required for concealed carry permits.
At the time of the Senate passing, the president of Rocky Mountain Gun owner Dudley Brown told Breitbart News: Colorado is planning to fly over California to become the most anti-gun nation and fight like hell.

Shotguns accounted for 1% of US murders. But Colorado Democrats are working diligently to ban wide ranges of semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.
