“The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert skewered President Biden on Tuesday for claiming he recently met with the French president, who died in 1996, and said Biden is now old enough to actually talk to the deceased world leader. I joked that I could talk.
Over the weekend, Biden spoke about his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the 2021 G7 meeting, a story he has told many times during his presidency. But this time, Mr. Biden referred to Mr. Macron as the late Francois Mitterrand.
Colbert began by pointing out that Biden had rejected an offer for an “immediate” presidential debate with Trump as he emerged from a bubble tea restaurant on Monday, noting that the current president had “no other options to do”. “I’ve never had that,” he joked. He went on to connect the clip to recent remarks Biden made about his sister at a union meeting.
“My sister is much smarter than I am. She was three years younger than me, and now she’s 23 years younger than me. I don’t know how this happened,” Biden said.
Colbert joked that Biden is so old that he “straddles the line between this world and the next” and can communicate with deceased world leaders. (CBS)

Colbert chuckled and replied to the clip, “But it happened… Is there a way for you to do the same thing? Get whatever drugs she’s on. Grind.” Can I put it in my bubble tea?”
Colbert also said that if Biden were to debate Trump, the current president would likely make a gaffe and embarrass himself.
“If Biden were to debate Trump, it would be difficult to avoid major gaffes. Just last Sunday, during a speech in Las Vegas, Biden said he had a conversation in 2021 with former President Francois Mitterrand. ” Colbert said. “There’s just one problem. Mitterrand died in 1996.”
He continued, “Right now everyone’s talking about Macron and saying the wrong name can happen to anyone. You know how it is. You’re a new You’re on a date with someone, you’re back at their place, and things are getting pretty heated.” In a moment of heavy and passionate passion, you accidentally end up shouting out the name of the long-deceased French president Francois Mitterand. ”

Colbert went on to joke that Biden has supernatural abilities “because he’s old,” which may not have been entirely false.
“But here’s the thing. Here’s the thing: I think this may not have been an actual gaffe,” he joked. “I think this may be evidence that Joe Biden has the ability to communicate with deceased world leaders. He is very old and straddles the line between this world and the next. He then shared a photo of Biden sitting alone at a conference table and said, “This is a photo of Biden discussing climate change with Lincoln, Churchill, Joan of Arc, and Genghis Khan.”
He further joked, “Let me tell you, this is a feature, not a bug. This all sums up in his new campaign slogan, ‘Biden 2024: I see dead people!’ ” he said.
