Yesterday, we talked about Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. He gave most of his effort in the Nittany Lions' 33-30 win over USC. Warren led all Penn State receivers with 17 receptions for 224 yards and one touchdown, ran for four yards on one rushing attempt, and also completed a pass. By a touchdown? Warren was lined up in a strange formation at center, but due to the formation, he qualified as a receiver and ended up catching a touchdown 32 yards downfield.
Cole Kmet wasn't able to accomplish that feat in Sunday's matchup, but jacksonville jaguarsit's getting pretty close.
early on chicago bearsBears long snapper Scott Daley was sidelined with a knee injury in the game against Jacksonville. In true “next man up” fashion they promoted Kmet to long snapper, as he is Chicago's emergency snapper.
Early in the second quarter, Kmet caught this touchdown from rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, coming on a beautifully designed play in which Williams faked a screen pass to both sides of the field, then Kmet crossed over the middle. I got a hit. From there, the tight end rushed into the end zone and stretched for a touchdown.
But he couldn't catch his breath, as Chicago had to snap to him on their next extra point attempt.
This is a pretty good snap too.
Kmet caught his second touchdown pass from Williams late in the second quarter, but that wasn't the end of the game.
Chicago made the ensuing PAT to take a 14-3 lead at halftime.
The more you can do, the more you can do, right?
