‘College Football 25’ delivers on all its promises to become one of the best football games of all-time

Few video games are as highly anticipated. College Football 25More than a decade of yearning came to a cathartic end with the game’s release this week. The only question that remains is, was it worth it? Is EA Sports’ return to college football something gamers want, or do they fear a cheap, reskinned version? Madden Has it been achieved?

It would be unfair to keep the answer a secret any longer, so I’ll just tell you right away. Blocking has been overhauled drastically, and in dozens of games, I have not seen a failed block or a meaningless assignment. Wide receivers and tight ends are now responsible for sealing the edge or stepping forward to block downfield, rather than just standing back and watching the play as we’re accustomed to.

This has a knock-on effect, play-action passes become more effective, trick plays become more effective, and once you establish the run, you see that affect the rest of the play-calling as well — just like you would see in the real game.

Passing has never been more exciting or tense. The crucial 3rd-and-7 can no longer be handled by a rote play that always scores 10 points. If the No. 1 receiver isn’t a bona fide star player, he’s likely to miss a route, make a slow cut, or get jammed out of the play. This isn’t something that happens frustratingly often, it’s simply a known element of the game that must be strategized around to be successful.

PLAY YOUR WAY

There’s no end to things to do College Football 25. In fact, when you turn it on, you’re constantly left with no decision to make. Do you want to experience a big rivalry game with a team you’ve never played against? Do you keep practicing with the Dynasty, who are close to making a hiring decision on the dual-threat QB you’ve spent time developing? What about the power running back from Road to Glory? Does anyone care about an anthropomorphized version of Bluey’s dad from Disney’s hit kids show? Bluey?

What makes the experience great? College Football 25 What’s great is that the experience is always changing – it’s not just a matter of bouncing between variations of the same thing, but a very unique experience that has a lot to do with what you do on the field as well as off it.

Dynasty is a fully realized college football season experience. Recruiting is the core of your non-football activities, and once you understand its systems, it’s incredibly engaging. Every recruit has a chart of what’s important to them: playing time, personal brand, distance from home, etc., all of which affect how you recruit. A 1.5-star prestige school can’t offer a brand, so recruits must focus on other areas. From there, it’s almost a turn-based RPG, choosing the right moves at the right time to get into the top 8, then top 5, recruits, and hopefully get a commitment.

All these moves are budgeted by time and when used wisely can be a lot of fun putting the puzzle together: you can increase the pressure by visiting recruits during tough match weekends, because wins and losses on the field will not only affect your ranking, but your ability to attack targets.

A similar budgeting and RPG experience is present in Road to Glory, which serves as the game’s “Go Pro” mode, where you must balance being a college athlete with maintaining your grades, socializing, building your brand, and training on the field. And juggling all those notes while earning your coaches’ trust and resulting playing time can be quite a challenge.

The differences between Dynasty and Road to Glory are so great that they feel like two different games, which is a great way to keep the games fresh – if you ever get frustrated with one, you can just switch and keep working on the other. This makes for an incredible package that’s impossible to put down.

This is the game we wanted and the game we deserve

College Football 25 It’s a very impressive debut, and if this is the starting point for more then the future looks bright – this game delivers the sights, sounds and feel of sports in an immensely addictive way.

More than anythingCollege Football 25 It has managed to bring the fun back to football. It’s the biggest leap in football gaming in years, maybe ever, and is a must-have game for anyone with even the slightest interest in college football.
