Tragic Death of College Soccer Player Linked to Boyfriend

Authorities have reported that Karoline Heintz, a soccer player at Pennsylvania Western University, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, who was aided by his mother in disposing of her body.

Heintz’s body was discovered in the back of her Jeep Cherokee around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, near the university campus. This was detailed by a local media outlet.

According to Pennsylvania State Trooper Rocco Gagliardi, the freshman had met her boyfriend, Royce Mosher, after attending a family gathering that evening. It seems they ended up arguing once they reached his home.

Gagliardi mentioned that the couple was discussing their relationship and how it might progress in college. At some point, the conversation took a darker turn. “Towards the end of that conversation,” he explained, “he went inside and got a large knife.”

After retrieving the knife, Mosher supposedly returned to where Heintz was in her car and stabbed her in the chest before placing her body in the vehicle’s back hatch. He then drove to his mother’s residence in Beallsville.

Rachel Mosher reportedly assisted her son in attempting to clean up evidence and strategized how to handle the vehicle and the body.

Trooper Gagliardi shared that they made efforts to erase any blood stains and subsequently drove the vehicle to California Borough with Rachel following close behind.

Once Heintz was reported missing, police traced her cell phone signal to the parking lot of the California Borough Library, where they found the Jeep parked.

Both Mosher and his mother were arrested later that same day and charged with murder.

The suspect claimed he felt like a “demon took over” during the incident. He is facing serious charges including criminal homicide, along with multiple counts related to evidence tampering and obstruction. His mother, aged 57, faces charges for tampering and obstructing justice, among others.

During her arraignment, Rachel Mosher expressed sorrow, stating, “I’m sorry that my son took a life.”

Karoline Heintz had recently graduated from high school and was set to begin her college journey, having committed to play soccer at PennWest University.

The university expressed its deep sadness regarding Heintz’s tragic death, extending condolences to her family, friends, and the wider community affected by the loss.
