Indian Student Dies in Bahamas Accident Days Before Graduation

A university student from India, studying in the United States, tragically lost his life in the Bahamas after a fall from a hotel balcony shortly before his graduation.

Gaurav Jaisingh, a student at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, was on an annual advanced class trip when he died in the incident on Sunday.

He was set to graduate later this week.

In a post on X, Bentley University expressed its grief, stating, “It’s been a difficult few days and our community feels the emotional toll of Gaurav Jaisingh ’25’s tragic loss. Our hearts go out to Gaurav’s family and friends.”

As reported by ABC News, Bentley University also shared, “We feel deep sadness for Gaurav’s family, friends, and loved ones. While local authorities investigate, it seems Gaurav accidentally fell from the balcony. We will provide more information when available while respecting his family’s privacy.”

“This is a huge tragedy for our community. Bentley is offering resources to those affected and encourages anyone in need to reach out to the university’s counseling center,” they added.

According to ABC News, Jaisingh was from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and was involved with the Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity as well as the School’s South Asian Student Association.

The Royal Bahamas police announced the start of an investigation into the circumstances of the adult man’s death on Paradise Island as of May 11. They noted that around 10 PM, the victim was in a hotel room with another person. Emergency services responded, but he did not survive after being transported to the hospital. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
