College Students Attempt to Remove Republican from Campus After He Reported Undocumented Immigrants to ICE

Boston University (BU) College Republicans President Zach Segal has become a target among his peers after allegedly providing information to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that resulted in the arrest of nine individuals for suspected illegal immigration, as noted in various social media posts.

Segal reposted screenshots on X from different Instagram accounts, such as the Back Bay Young Democratic Socialists (BBYDSA), which featured a flyer labeling him as a “racist and fascist.”

One collaborator mentioned, “We are seeking information about a BU neo-Nazi named Zach Segal,” while sharing several photos of him. It’s unclear if the post originated from a student at BU.

The flyer distributed by BBYDSA stated, “BU College Republicans, along with President Zach Segal, support the abduction of our beloved neighbors and willingly participate in the ethnic cleansing of our community.” It further added that such hatred shouldn’t be associated with the school’s track and field team or campus life.

Notably, the DSA chapter emphasizes it is not affiliated with Boston University. They recently demanded more university discipline regarding Segal.

“We must hold him accountable for his disgusting behavior,” the flyer urged, prompting students to contact the athletic director.

On November 7, Segal shared with a local newspaper, Boston.com, that nine workers from a car wash were arrested in an ICE raid.

Segal took pride in the arrests on his X account. He stated, “I called ICE for months on end. This week, they finally complied with my request to take these criminals into custody. As a resident, I’ve seen how jobs are often given to those without the right to be here. Raise the numbers!”

Reports indicate that around 22 federal agents arrived at the Allston car wash early in November.

The president of the Republican College of America commended Segal for his actions. “We applaud Zach Segal for his commitment to the community by reporting illegal immigrants at the Allston Car Wash, resulting in their removal,” Martin Bertao remarked. “Zach Segal is a hero, and we are proud to call him one of our heroes. We urge all College Republicans to follow his lead and report any illegal activity in their areas to local ICE units.”

The American College Republicans also called on the Department of Justice to take “immediate action.”

A law firm representing the detained individuals indicated that some of them had work documents but were not allowed access. A family member of one of those detained claimed that none had a criminal record.

“None of my three family members have a criminal record. Their only crime is being immigrants. We came here to work, but instead, we face racism every day,” she told the media through an interpreter.

“Look beyond our status as immigrants and see that we are hard-working people who came here to help this country,” she added.

Attempts to reach BBYDSA and Boston University for comment did not receive a response by the time of this report.
