College wrestler Chad T. Richards has been arrested and charged with the shooting death of national title-winning gymnast Carla Welsh.
Breitbart News reported that Welsh was shot and killed on August 30 in her apartment near the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Whitewater City attention Following the incident, a 23-year-old man, now identified as Richards, “was arrested and booked into the Walworth County Jail.”
Richards was a wrestler for the Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team in 2021-2022.
According to the Daily MailMr Welsh and Mr Richards knew each other, but the nature of their relationship has not been disclosed.
On Tuesday, a judge ruled Richards an “extreme flight risk” and set bail at $1 million.
Police are asking the district attorney to file charges including “first-degree intentional murder, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct while armed.”
