Colorado man Christopher Brown fatally stabbed in Tobago, suspect taken into custody

An American man has been discovered dead on the island of Tobago, with indications of a stab wound, according to local officials.

Christopher Brown, 43, from Silverthorne, Colorado, was found unresponsive with stab injuries and a metal object in his back, as reported by the police in Tobago.

According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police, Brown had been enjoying dinner and drinks with friends in Castara, a coastal village on Tobago’s leeward side. After their meal, he left them, saying he was going out to buy marijuana.

Authorities were alerted to a man found unconscious on Depot Road in Castara around 10:30 PM, and he was later pronounced dead.

Local law enforcement has confirmed that a suspect is in custody. “I can confirm that the suspect is currently in custody,” Trinidad and Tobago Police Commissioner Alistair Guevaro informed the media. However, the identity of the suspect has not yet been made public.

The Tobago Tourism Board has reassured the community that the village remains safe.

The Department of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transport expressed deep sorrow and concern regarding the murder of a foreign national in what is typically a peaceful area. They condemned the violent act and offered their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends affected during this exceptionally tough time.
