This is a developing story.
Colt Gray, the suspect in the Apalachee High School massacre in Barrow County, Georgia, opened fire on innocent victims inside the school Wednesday morning, killing four people and wounding at least nine, police said.
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office received a call about an active shooter around 10:20 a.m., about two hours after classes began in Apalachee.
“Within minutes, police were on scene, as were two school resource officers assigned to the school,” Barrow County Sheriff Judd Smith told reporters during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

“Once officers encountered the suspect, he immediately surrendered to officers and was taken into custody.”
The four dead victims were two students and two teachers, authorities said.
The surviving victims were taken to local hospitals where they are being treated for injuries of varying severity, police said.

Gray, 14, who attends Apalachee High School, has been charged with murder and will be prosecuted as an adult, Smith said.

Local law enforcement is working with Piedmont Judicial District Attorney Brad Smith on both the investigation and filing charges.
“Our number one priority right now in this investigation is gathering all of the facts,” Smith said. “This is a homicide investigation.”
Georgia State Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
