Columbia ‘Lost Control’ and Is Letting a Second Charlottesville ‘Ride’

On Monday’s “CNN NewsNight,” Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said Columbia University had “completely lost control of the situation” and was “just letting it go.” When the Jewish families heard, they said, “If this were a minority, a protected minority, but the Jews are not, they don’t think this was past lunchtime on the first day.”

Professor Moskowitz said: “I was at the university today and it was very clear to me that while they were building a perimeter outside the university, there was very little safety once inside the university.” They completely lose control of the situation and just let it go. This new policy confirms that they are just trying to run out the clock by going completely virtual. [until] At the end of the year, we can say this: Even if students wear masks, go completely virtual, and reinstate COVID-19 policies, we will not slow the spread of anti-Semitism. Dew. ”

He went on to say, “Tonight on Passover, families gathered around the table, extended family together, and conversations were had about what’s going on at Columbia University and how they’re now at New York University. Are you looking at what’s happening in the city? This is the conversation, Jewish parents are asking this question, because I know their students attend Columbia University. What they’re asking is, if this was a non-Jewish minority, a protected minority, I don’t think this would have been past lunchtime on the first day. Because for Jews, even if we were there, we don’t fit into this box. [are] There’s only 15 million people in this country, and at the end of the day, we’re being looked at…differently, and that’s why universities are struggling with this, right, freedom of speech. is protected, while hate speech is not. And we’re pretty much in the realm of hate speech. ”

Moskowitz continued, “Years ago, after seeing Charlottesville and the Jews not replacing us, Donald Trump said that good people on both sides and Mexicans are rapists. But somehow we don’t have the same anger. [at] Are you going back to Poland? My grandfather’s entire family was killed in Poland. He was the only survivor. I know people who say all Zionists should be killed, that Tel Aviv should be bombed, that this is not a white Aryan man with a tiki torch, but they have the same message. ”
