House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer appeared to pour cold water on the prospect of impeaching President Biden in a new fundraising email sent to voters Monday night.
Comer said the “criminal referral” would be the “culmination” of the ongoing impeachment inquiry.
In a message to supporters, the Kentucky Republican blasted Democrats and cited the left’s unified opposition to Biden’s impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Comer’s email said: “I have presented a mountain of evidence that Joe Biden was involved in a plan to spread the family’s influence, and I have provided a group of Biden family business confidants with the original family’s influence. “I have just had him publicly testify about his criminal conduct.” “At any other time in history, it would have been the final nail in the coffin of the Biden crime family’s corrupt reign.”

“But we are not in a normal time in history…As it stands, deranged Democrats refuse to take up the impeachment trial of Alejandro Mayorkas and threaten to dismiss the impeachment trial within minutes of its final deliberations. It’s threatening, even the “centrists”. Democrats called the Mayorkas impeachment trial “ridiculous” days after a criminal brutally murdered Laken Riley in cold blood. ”
House Republicans voted last month to impeach Mayorkas over the border crisis, but articles of impeachment have not yet been sent to the Senate. Once that happens, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York will have to deal with them quickly, but the Democratic majority is likely to crush them as quickly as possible.
Comer’s email then asked, “What do you think they would do if we impeached Biden?”

“It’s clear that Democrats choose party over country and truth at every turn. They should be ashamed of themselves. That’s why I’m preparing to file criminal charges as the culmination of this investigation,” he wrote.
“Once President Trump returns to the White House, it is critical that the new leadership at the Department of Justice has everything it needs to prosecute the Biden crime family and achieve speedy justice.”

Comer said criminal charges are the “best way” to hold the Bidens accountable because it is clear that Democrats will do anything to stay in power.
He made similar comments in an interview with Newsmax last week after the House held its second impeachment hearing. Earlier this month, FOX News Digital spoke with several Republican senators who said they believed the president had at least acted inappropriately, but said the current state of the House makes it unlikely they would actually impeach him. I admitted it was low.
Those prospects will become even more difficult after April 19, with the early departure of Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.), leaving the House Republican majority with just one vote.

Rep. Byron Donald (R-Florida), a member of the Oversight Committee, told Fox News Digital last week that it was “very likely” that a vote would take place in the House, but that Biden’s impeachment would not be possible. “That was not the purpose” of the oversight committee, he said. inquiry.
“The purpose is to conduct these investigations. Some of the initial information that we uncovered led to the information we have now, so we are conducting a formal impeachment inquiry,” Donald said.

Asked if that meant the purpose of the impeachment inquiry was not an impeachment vote, Mr. Donald countered, “That’s not what I’m saying.”
“It was to conduct an investigation into allegations of public corruption by the Biden family. Yes, it was proven that there was public corruption going on…The problem is that all the evidence we have shows us that there was significant Does it lead to crimes and misdemeanors?’But in order to evaluate and obtain all of this information, we need to conduct an impeachment inquiry,” he said. “Unlike Democrats, we didn’t come in just promising impeachment from day one.”
