Commemorative Trump transit cards released by DC Metro ahead of inauguration

As Americans flock to the nation's capital for President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has released a special public transit card to commemorate the event.

The Inaugural SmarTrip Card is a reloadable fare card that can hold up to $300 in stored value on public transportation within the city, according to WMATA's website.

The transportation card features a photo of President Trump on a red background with a large number 47 behind the president-elect.

The inscription reads, “Inauguration of Donald J. Trump, 45th and 47th President of the United States.”

Participating subway stations around the DMV area will sell the cards while supplies last.

Locations include Ashburn, Forest Glen, Franconia Springfield, Glenmont, Greenbelt, Old Town King St., L'Enfant Plaza, Navy Yard Stadium, New Carrollton, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Shady Grove, and Stadium Armory. , Union Station, Vienna and Washington Dulles International Airport.

WMATA noted that the cards are sold out at the Metro Center station.

In 2017, WMATA issued a generic inaugural card with a sleeve featuring Trump's face.

On eBay, some people are listing cards for around $20, but one seller is listing one card for $450, or the “best offer” starting price.

“It showcases the president's accomplishments and contributions to the country and is a valuable addition to any collection,” the seller wrote in the listing description.
