President Donald Trump's meeting with Pacific Palisades residents and elected officials affected by the Palisades fire on Friday was one of the most productive public meetings in memory, with specific Created a promise.
These bipartisan efforts, also known as the Palisades Fire Agreement, can be summarized as follows:
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass promised:
- Allow residents to access their premises “within one week” (i.e. by Friday 31st January)
- Allowing residents to return to their homes “immediately” (with an apparent public safety warning)
- Relaxing city regulations to help residents rebuild
- City departments working together to support reconstruction
- to remove debris as quickly as possible
- work with the trump administration
President Donald Trump has promised:
- appoint a special master to oversee federal funds flowing to California through Ambassador Richard Grenell;
- waive all federal permits needed for reconstruction;
- to override local governments such as the California Coastal Commission;
- Sign executive order to bring more water to Southern California
- To help residents of Altadena, Pasadena, and Pacific Palisades.
- Work on additional water technology solutions to prevent fire damage
For the time being, President Trump has placed the responsibility of overseeing the implementation of these commitments on Ambassador Grenell. He also warned that residents should be allowed to start construction as soon as possible so as not to lose faith in the idea.
