Chris Pratt expressed he isn’t concerned about the AI-generated actress Tilly Norwood, stating, “I don’t know who this woman is.” The Guardians of the Galaxy star dismissed the entertainment industry’s anxiety about AI potentially replacing actors as “totally bogus.”
Pratt said, “I don’t think anyone can replace me, and that’s AI,” during the New York City premiere of Mercy. He added, “I heard about Tilly Norwood, and I think it’s all nonsense. I’ve never seen her in a movie.”
Continuing his thoughts, Pratt remarked that everything about AI seems “fake until it’s something,” and believes AI is “a great tool” that can aid people in storytelling when used correctly.
“Disruption in the industry is unavoidable,” mentioned the Parks and Recreation star. He acknowledged that we are in the midst of an intellectual revolution, suggesting that many industries will feel the impact of AI. “We just need to keep moving forward.”
He also stated, “Good filmmakers will keep making good movies, and they’ll likely utilize these tools to streamline production.”
“If it helps cut production costs, it’s bound to happen,” he reiterated.
Despite this, Pratt expressed skepticism about AI replacing the “human soul” found in the work of directors, screenwriters, actors, and singers—an essence that involves human longing, suffering, vision, and art.
“Movies foster a soul-to-soul connection,” asserted the Jurassic World star, noting that viewers “might not know exactly what you’re getting into,” but emphasized that people’s minds inevitably connect with the content.
“We may not entirely grasp that feeling, but it undoubtedly exists,” he elaborated. “When that genuine connection is absent, you don’t feel good. You miss out.”
“I may never be able to completely articulate what we’re lacking, but I believe it’s the human soul,” the actor insisted. “That brings me comfort.”
