Jake Tapper’s upcoming book, “Original Crime: President Biden’s Decline, Cover-up, and the Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” co-written with Alex Thompson from Axios, is just days away from its release.
Tapper previously amplified the mainstream narrative surrounding Joe Biden, particularly downplaying worries about his mental sharpness. However, it seems now that the political landscape has changed and Democrats are not in power, he’s ready to capitalize on the situation to “uncover the truth.”
“Is Jake Tapper the King of Grifts?” Jill Savage from Blaze News questioned sarcastically.
Christopher Bedford, a senior political editor at Blaze Media, remarked, “The Great Biden Book War has finally begun.” He described the efforts of Tapper and Thompson as “incredible.”

“They’ve reported on Joe Biden extensively for years. Thompson, in particular, was involved in the campaign, but oddly, he never addressed the president’s evident decline in cognitive abilities,” Bedford noted.
He added that the same criticism applies to Tapper for his role in covering politics on CNN.
“[Tapper] has never really addressed the president’s cognitive decline,” Bedford stated, also mentioning how Tapper criticized anyone who dared to question Biden’s mental fitness.
After Biden’s rough debate with Donald Trump, it appeared that the truth could no longer be ignored. Tapper and Thompson then quickly sought to profit from interviews with Democrats close to the administration, gathering stories that align with their narrative.
One of the book’s notable claims suggests that the administration considered using wheelchairs at the start of Biden’s second term to maintain the facade of health, Bedford asserted.
Another anecdote references an aide attempting to obscure Biden’s difficulty walking by attributing it to an old injury, which had already healed.
Tapper and Thompson frame this information as groundbreaking, yet it was something that many had already observed, Bedford explained. “Biden often exhibits what people have called ‘The Dead Man Shuffle.’ There’s nothing exclusive about this information.”
“How do you think this will do in sales?” questioned Matthew Peterson, an editor at Blaze News.
