Condé Nast reaches deal with union, avoids Met Gala picket

Condé Nast has reached a tentative deal with the union representing employees at the luxury magazine publisher, averting the possibility of Anna Wintour forcing employees to picket Monday night’s Met Gala.

The group, which is part of New York’s News Guild, listed some of the wins, including a $61,500 minimum base salary, expanded bereavement leave, expanded family leave and pay increases totaling $3.3 million.

Additionally, the union announced that it has negotiated eight weeks of severance and three months of COBRA compensation or a lump sum payment in lieu of COBRA for employees on Mr. Conde’s layoff list.

“Our tenacious fight for our rights and the best possible victory is why we have entered into this interim agreement. Ratification is expected to take place this week,” the union added.

The deal was made ahead of Monday night’s Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, hosted by Vogue magazine’s Anna Wintour.
